My Dear Friend Leo Skogen

My dear friend and long-time brother-in-law, Leo Skogen went to be with Jesus three years ago today. He struggled with cancer and put up a good fight to the end. All his life his desire was to be like Jesus. He reached out to those no one else would give the time of day. He loved the homeless, the addicts and the loveless. He gave his money, his time and his prayers to so many and constantly told people about Jesus and the love that Jesus had for them. When I last spoke with him I told him how much I admired him because while most of us work for the next vacation or the next toy--each day he would start out asking God "how can I serve you today?"
He was a great man and one of my best friends. I miss him greatly.
I know he has seen Jesus face-to-face and that Jesus has told him, "Well done my good and faithful servant."
I can't help but wonder, "What are they doing in Heaven today?"

Leo was more than a brother-in-law to me. We were brothers in Christ but he also was like a real brother. We played together, worked together and we cried together. Our last words to one another: "I love you."
My memories of working and playing together are many.
I know when I get to Heaven our relationship will continue through eternity. Maybe God has big tree He'll want us to cut down and maybe He has a football and a basketball and we can play again. Maybe there's a Grand and we can have a malt.
I love you my friend.

Very nice Rachel! Dad thought so much of you and Robert. I know he loved having you in Lake Mills when you had the house.
I wonder if he has gotten his crowns yet.

Love,

Dan

Thanks Rachel! It was good to watch, I cried the whole time. I do wonder what he is doing in heaven. How great it is to know that he saw his dad and brother today!

Thank you for this Rachel. I love how that picture may be a snapshot of what Leo looks like when he looks up at Jesus. :)

Rachel, I finally got a chance to watch your video and it is really good! It is so sad, but we do have to remember he is walking hand in hand with Jesus! Can't wait to see you today and celebrate dad's life together! Love, Beth
